KURA ONE® Launches “Re:Local”: Place-First Sake Cans — Introducing an Ambient-Distribution “Namazake Can (unpasteurized)”
Taste local sake from 9 regions in 200 mL cans. Wholesale for restaurants and hotels now open.
Tokyo — October 31, 2025 — KURA ONE®, the canned-sake brand that celebrates regional terroir and each brewery’s personality (operated by id10 japan corporation; CEO: Katsunari Sawada), will unveil its new series Re:Local starting November 1, 2025. Built on the concept “Turning place names into flavor,” Re:Local showcases sake brewed only with local rice and local water from nine regions across Japan, packaged in compact 200 mL aluminum cans.
On Makuake (Japan’s leading pre-order platform), KURA ONE® will launch Re:Local with a limited “Rich Sake Ice Cream + Sake Can” experience set available November 1–December 30, 2025. In parallel, the brand will begin taking B2B wholesale orders for restaurants, premium grocers, hotels, and inbound-tourism operators (campaign period: November 4–December 30, 2025).
Re:Local — Connecting regions and breweries through “place”
In Re:Local, KURA ONE® collaborated with breweries in nine regions to curate junmai-style expressions (Junmai Daiginjo, Junmai Ginjo, Junmai, and Tokubetsu Junmai), brewed strictly with local rice and local water. The line spans both hi-ire (pasteurized) and namazake (unpasteurized) — including some brewery-only releases — to capture each region’s climate and culture.
The front label puts the place name and prefecture first. A map, founding year, and brewery name reinforce the idea of “tasting Japan by map.” Each can pairs a 130-character Sake Note (highlighting local sights, the brewer’s craft, and flavor cues) with a tasting profile chart designed by the makers themselves.
Every can carries a unique serial number, with bilingual (Japanese/English) labeling to ensure the stories of Japanese sake travel across cultures.
Quality as a mission — an ambient-distribution “Namazake Can”
KURA ONE® advances quality not by denying the bottle but by respecting it — and by exploring how to deliver pristine flavor to more people, more easily.
The result is a can-packaged namazake designed for ambient distribution. By entrusting filling to Kikusui Shuzo, a brewery with five decades of sake-canning know-how and robust quality-control systems, KURA ONE® safeguards sake from light, oxygen, and impact. Beyond pasteurized expressions, Re:Local also brings the fresh clarity and rice definition of namazake to the moment you open the can.
Makuake limited: “Rich Sake Ice Cream + KURA ONE®” supporter sets
KURA ONE® is meant to be remembered by comparison — capturing aroma and finish alongside the “place” that anchors your memory. For Makuake, KURA ONE® pairs nine regional sakes with Rich Sake Ice Cream made using one-quarter sake by volume (ice cream ABV: 3–4%). Taste the 200 mL sake side-by-side with its ice-cream counterpart to make each region’s character pop.
Note: Due to temperature sensitivity, the cup ice cream is available exclusively through this project (not for general retail).
Tasting event: “KURA ONE® ICECREAM Supporter Event” at SAKEICE (Tokyo)
During the Makuake campaign, visit SAKEICE (YANMAR TOKYO 1F, Yaesu Exit, Tokyo Station) to explore what ice cream made with 25% sake actually tastes like. Enjoy two sake + two ice cream pairings to expand your “drink × eat” comparison axis — an all-new way to discover sake.
- Dates: October 25 — December 21, 2025
- Venue: SAKEICE, YANMAR TOKYO 1F, 2–1–1 Yaesu, Chuo-ku, Tokyo
- Offering: Tasting of 2 sakes + 2 Rich Sake Ice Creams (free)
Four ways KURA ONE® aims to surprise
1. Carry the essence, not just the container
The hero is the liquid. Light-proof cans and careful filling protect sake that dislikes light, while 200 mL delivers “safe to finish the can” and the fun of side-by-side comparisons. Place-forward labels let flavor and story rise together.
2. Meet “nama” at room temperature
Namazake without the fridge tether. At the moment of opening, the clarity of source water and the brewer’s judgment unfolds—on the road or as a gift—so your best first sip is on your schedule.
3. Lightness takes local farther
With shipments already to 50 countries, KURA ONE® is validating small-parcel air delivery at 100-country scale. Light, unbreakable, and story-rich—one can can spark your next destination.
4. Water proves the place
Great sake grows from great water. KURA ONE® makes water sources and regional culture visible through cans and stories—sharing the value of “regions with fine water” and “regions that cultivate local produce.”
Wholesale campaign — for restaurants, retailers, premium grocers, hotels, and inbound operators
While Re:Local’s general release is slated for 2026, KURA ONE® will accept advance B2B orders now. Eligible partners include domestic and international restaurants, liquor retailers, premium supermarkets, ryokan/hotels, airports/duty-free, and inbound-tourism operators.
- KURA ONE® Re:Local can (200 mL): minimum order 6 cans per SKU
- KURA ONE® ICECREAM (foodservice 2 L / 1 L): minimum order 1 tub
- Campaign window: November 4 — December 30, 2025
Three years on — from “telling” to “delivering”
Since launch in January 2023, KURA ONE® has focused on “telling the stories of regions and breweries.” Entering our third year, we add the mission of “delivering” — evolving into a bridge between Japan and the world.
Re:Local embodies that shift: turning place into flavor, sealing culture in a can, and linking regions to the world — one sip at a time.
